One of the most enjoyable parts of my job is connecting with contractors who are excited about their work and the industry as a whole. Jeff Seidl certainly fits the bill.
Seidl’s company, Elexco, in Seymour, Wisconsin, is featured in this issue of Dig Different. I first met Seidl at the Water and Wastewater Equipment, Treatment & Transport (WWETT) Show two years ago and we’ve emailed back and forth several times since. You can’t talk to him for a minute without recognizing his enthusiasm for his business and the work his company is doing. The energy is contagious.
When I was out taking the photos to go with that profile, one could feel that same energy with Seidl’s crew on the job. They were excited about their jobs, they enjoyed talking about them and show us what they were doing along every step.
Seidl and his crew all said they have a great crew, but finding more crew can prove challenging. I’ve heard that from nearly every contractor that we’ve profiled. It’s hard to find good, qualified workers. Having people like Seidl, and his crew, could help change that.
The company likes to provide new hires and existing employees with opportunities to learn and grow. Even Seidl’s two sons, who work for the company, are starting from the ground floor and working their way up. Seidl is quick to note that he’d like to see his sons take over eventually, but that they still have some to learn before he feels confident in letting them take the company.
Allowing new hires and existing employees the opportunities to learn and move up is a great investment for your business and the future of the industry as a whole.
MARKETING THAT EXCITEMENT
If you want to attract new hires and even new customers to your company, don’t be afraid to market the excitement your team shows on the job. Get photos or video of the work they are doing and use that in your marketing toolbox.
There are many more marketing tips that you should be following in order to help your company and we go over many of those in our Smart Business feature this month.
