VMAC sponsors Nanaimo Community Hospice’s 2019 Hike for Hospice event
VMAC supported Nanaimo Community Hospice’s signature fundraising event, Hike for Hospice, with a $2,500 platinum sponsorship and a large team to participate in the walk/run. Nanaimo Community Hospice provides compassionate programs, services and support to all members of the community free of charge. Hike for Hospice is an annual fundraiser, with the 2019 hike being the most successful event in recent years. With approximately 200 participants in attendance, over $40,000 was raised. 

Barbco founder Jim Barbera dies
Barbco founder Jim Barbera, 79, of East Canton, Ohio, died on July 8.

Barbera and his wife, Fran, married in November 1963 in Canton, Ohio. He started Barbco in 1979 and ran it out of a shop in Twinsburg, Ohio, for the first six months. In 2003, he moved the company to its present location in East Canton. At this location, Barbco had the space to build and the land to expand manufacturing when needed. To date, the company has undergone two additions. Barbera and his wife moved to Florida but returned frequently to Ohio, and Barbera continued to discuss business matters with his three sons, who all work at Barbco.

Continental’s Nebraska hose plant celebrates 40th anniversary
Continental’s Norfolk, Nebraska, hose plant, is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year. The plant was built and began business operations in 1979. The facility produces more than 70 million feet of hose a year and has produced more than 2.5 billion feet of hose in its 40-year existence. The Norfolk plant manufactures hydraulic and industrial hose for a variety of industrial applications including a wide variety of fuel dispensing, freon charging, mine spray and general purpose hose.

AIMS acquires Southern Hydro Vac
AIMS Companies acquired Southern Hydro Vac, a soft-dig hydroexcavation company in Georgia. The company will do business as Southern Hydro Vac under the AIMS Companies umbrella. All 50 Southern Hydro Vac employees will work with the combined organization moving forward. AIMS Companies now employs over 500 professionals nationwide and is averaging two new regional locations per year with additional growth plans.

Vermeer commemorates tornado recovery efforts
Vermeer Corp. held the groundbreaking for a monument commemorating the company’s buildings that were destroyed by an EF3 tornado last July, while also celebrating the strength of the Vermeer team and the growth and progress that is happening along the Vermeer Mile.  

“The tornado was the greatest challenge Vermeer has ever faced. I am incredibly proud to say our team has turned it into an opportunity. Not only are we rebuilding what we had, but we're becoming stronger than ever before,” President and CEO Jason Andringa says.

Brokk launches new website
Brokk launched a new website, www.brokk.com. The new site provides quick access to detailed product information and an extensive after sales section full of useful tools to help customers maximize efficiency with their Brokk machines. The mobile-friendly site serves as a resource for information on robotic demolition products and best practices by linking customers to educational material, instruction and maintenance videos, the latest technology, and industry news and more.

ASV Holdings signs definitive merger agreement with Yanmar Holdings
ASV Holdings has entered into a definitive merger agreement with an affiliate of Yanmar Holdings. The ASV Board of Directors unanimously approved the agreement with Yanmar and recommends that ASV stockholders vote in favor of the transaction. The combination of ASV’s compact track loaders and skid steer loaders with the compact equipment portfolio of Osaka, Japan-based Yanmar creates a comprehensive and global provider of compact equipment with virtually no overlap in distribution networks. 

Vacuworx announces new hires and promotions
Vacuworx announced the promotion of two employees and three new hires as it expands the marketing and strategy teams in support of global growth. Alan Odgers has been promoted to senior vice president of strategy from vice president of marketing. William Bomprezzi was hired as director of business analytics and will be focused on making continuous improvements within the organization and supporting global initiatives. Paula Bell was promoted to director of marketing from marketing manager, managing the development, implementation and evaluation of integrated marketing strategies to increase both brand awareness and sales revenue. Vacuworx has also hired Brandon Martin and Denise Warner as marketing coordinators.
