The Waterjet Technology Basics & Beyond Short Course is presented every two years in conjunction with the WaterJet Technology Association (WJTA) Conference & Expo. With the cancellation of the 2021 WJTA Conference & Expo, the short course will now be presented virtually across a series of four two-hour sessions in January 2022. 

The virtual short course is chaired by Hugh B. Miller, Ph.D., associate professor, Colorado School of Mines, and is delivered by an expert faculty from industry and academia. The course offers an applied introduction to waterjet technology and in-depth treatment of key areas, suitable for anyone with an interest in high-pressure applications.

The schedule of the 2022 Waterjet Technology Basics & Beyond Virtual Short Course is as follows: 

Tuesday, Jan. 11, 10 a.m. – Noon, Central Standard Time 

• Waterjet Technology: Introduction & History presented by David Summers, Ph.D., curators' professor emeritus of mining, Missouri University of Science and Technology

• Applications of Waterjet Technology presented by Darrell Terpenning, vice president of sales, NLB Corporation 

• Equipment Considerations presented by Hugh B. Miller, Ph.D., associate professor, Mining Engineering Department, Colorado School of Mines 

Tuesday, Jan. 18, 10 a.m. – Noon, Central Standard Time 

• Occupational Safety & Health presented by Frank G. Romito, WJTA master trainer 

• Cleaning Applications presented by Jeff Hensley, technical solutions manager, StoneAge, Inc. 

Tuesday, Jan. 25, 10 a.m. – Noon, Central Standard Time 

• Field Cutting Applications presented by Bill McClister, industry consultant 

• UHP & Abrasive Cutting Applications presented by Mohamed Hashish, Ph.D., senior technology fellow, Flow International Corporation 

Tuesday, Feb. 1, 10 a.m. – Noon, Central Standard Time 

• Coating and Corrosion Removal & Surface Prep presented by Lydia Frenzel, Ph.D., industry consultant 

• Sewer Cleaning presented by Dana M. Hicks, national sales manager, ENZ USA Inc. 

• Hydrodemolition presented by Troy Aldea, capital sales, NLB Corporation
