Cat Pumps compact mobile hydroexcavating spline shaft pumps
Cat Pumps offers the trusted performance of the 2565 and 3560 pumps with a new direct-mount flange and hollow spline shaft. This innovation addresses the challenges of limited space and allows pairing with compact SAE hydraulic motors. Model 2565T13 achieves flows to 20 gpm at pressures up to 3,000 psi and pairs to an SAE B hydraulic motor with a 13-tooth spline shaft. This reduces the width of the pump by over 7 1/2 inches compared to the standard bell housing configuration. Models 3560T14 and 3560RST14 pair with SAE C hydraulic motors with a 14-tooth spline shaft and can pump 20 gpm up to 4,000 psi or 25 gpm up to 3,000 psi. These models significantly decrease the overall pump and bell housing width by more than 8 inches and permit the motor to be mounted on either side. Equipment builders can add an optional electronic rpm speed sensor to ensure accurate, consistent pump operation.

Ditch Witch West Sells First Mastenbroek Bulldog Trencher
Cox and Cox Construction, a full-service underground utility contractor licensed in California and Nevada, is the first company to take delivery of and operate a Bulldog trencher. The compact, powerful and agile trencher has been designed by UK manufacturer Mastenbroek specifically for American utility contractors and is marketed on the West Coast by Ditch Witch West. Mastenbroek designed the Bulldog for underground utility installation, particularly in areas where overhead electrical cables could cause or be destroyed by forest fires.
Cox and Cox Construction's search for the Bulldog began in 2023 when the company's president, Buddy Cox, identified the need to acquire a smaller, faster trencher to give him a competitive advantage when tendering undergrounding contracts. He discovered the Bulldog after speaking to Ditch Witch West, which was negotiating sales rights for Mastenbroek machines with its U.S. sales agent, Port Industries.
Cox and Cox Construction took delivery of the first production Bulldog trencher late last year and began using it in January 2025 to install underground utility cables along 50 miles of narrow, winding roads near Lakehead in northern California. www.ditchwitchwest.com; www.mastenbroek.com
