When it comes to hydroexcavation, performance and durability are essential — not just to complete the job, but to do it safely, efficiently and with minimal downtime. Built on decades of experience and real-world feedback, the GapVax VHE Series is more than just a vacuum truck; it’s a fully engineered system designed for demanding job sites and tailored to the specific needs of contractors in the field.
At the heart of the VHE design is its full-length 6-inch subframe, a structural feature that reinforces the truck’s chassis frame. This isn’t just about strength — it’s about stability. The subframe provides a solid foundation for the debris body, especially when the truck is raised to dump. Combined with a full-opening tailgate and a 50-degree dump angle, operators can expect fast, efficient unloading. These features are critical on jobs where time matters and repeated dumping is part of the routine.
Versatile and customizable
One of the defining characteristics of the VHE Series is its range of customizable options. Every job is different, and the VHE adapts to meet those needs. Water tank capacities range from 300 to 2,000 gallons, allowing users to balance payload and water supply depending on their excavation demands. Similarly, the debris body can be configured between 4 to 15 cubic yards. Whether you’re doing small urban projects or large-scale industrial work, there’s a VHE spec that fits.
The VHE can be equipped with a 4,500 cfm, 18-inch Hg blower as standard, or an optional 4,000 cfm, 27-inch Hg blower for heavier-duty applications. This kind of suction power makes it ideal for digging in all soil types, from loose gravel to hardened clay. And when paired with the right water system — options ranging from 19 gpm to 40 gpm and 2,900 psi up to 5,800 psi — the VHE delivers both force and precision for safe, effective excavation.
The boom is equally robust and thoughtfully designed. An 8-inch telescoping boom rotates 180 degrees and is supported by heavy-duty dual-lift cylinders. This offers both strength and flexibility, allowing operators to reach difficult areas, which is an essential feature on tight or congested work sites.
The VHE Series is designed for professionals who need a machine that performs consistently in real-world conditions. Every component, from the frame to the filtration system, is built with purpose. This attention to engineering and customization is what GapVax is known for.
GapVax Inc. evolved from its sister company, GAP Pollution & Environmental Control Inc., was founded after the 1977 Johnstown Flood. Gary A. Poborsky saw a need to help with the flood cleanup around the city and he got to work with a used vacuum truck. From that point forward, Poborsky’s business grew. Learning from the service company and operators what was needed to get the job done, Poborsky set out to build his own equipment, thus creating GapVax Inc. GapVax began custom building industrial and municipal vacuum equipment in 1989 and has continued to grow and become a leading manufacturer in the industry.
