Kondex is introducing three levels of wear protection for its sonde housings. Known for delivering maximum wear protection with its laser cladding technology — and the first to bring laser cladding to HDD tooling — Kondex now gives contractors the flexibility to choose the level of protection that best fits their ground conditions and budget.

The company is introducing Drill Defender Core, Edge and Apex housings, all of which are built to last, made in America, and manufactured from high-grade U.S. steel.

Drill Defender Core is built for dependable performance, bore after bore. Available in flat-bit and splined housings for both Ditch Witch and Vermeer hole patterns, Core housings are manufactured with premium U.S. steel and are fully heat-treated for added strength and durability. It’s ideal for contractors drilling primarily in dirt and other nonabrasive conditions.

Drill Defender Edge is engineered for longer life in demanding ground. Available in flat-bit housings for Ditch Witch and Vermeer drills, Edge features strategically placed laser cladding on high-wear areas to extend housing life and improve tooling value in mixed ground conditions.

Drill Defender Apex offers premium protection for the toughest job sites. Featuring the highest volume of laser cladding, Apex delivers maximum wear protection and long service life. It’s the same extensive cladding that has made Kondex a trusted name in HDD tooling and is ideal for contractors who want maximum durability, fewer tooling changes, and the lowest long-term operating costs.

Kondex Corporation was founded in 1974 and prides itself on delivering innovative, high-performance, long-lasting HDD tooling to help drillers increase their cut. All products are sourced from high-quality U.S. steel and manufactured at Kondex’s Lomira, Wisconsin, facility.
